crashing
through the credibility barrier
Sydney
Gas Company was a smallish petroleum explorer who specifically
had developed coal bed methane technologies to recover substantial
natural gas deposits from the Sydney Basin's Triassic Coal deposits
at the edges of the basin. But, more than this they had actually
put production wells in place, worked with local communities and
State Government to demonstrate it was a non-invasive, environmentally
sound thing to do, and contributed to NSW's green energy consumption
with the first commercial gas production since settlement in 1788.
United
Notions wrote, designed, produced and placed a full page 4-colour
tabloid advertisement in The Australian Financial Review to announce
to business, investors and government that Sydney Gas Company really
was "in business".
The
sheer size and impact of this ad lent credibility that was reflected
in growth of the share price and support by Government of further
gas development projects in other parts of the State.
